Digital Bangladesh
Digital means computer-based. Digital Bangladesh means to motivate all the activities of the whole country with the help of modern computer network or internet system. Modern technology plays a vital role in this regard. We can set CCTV camera in different important points and being at one place we can control all the government and non-government offices and institutions, schools and colleges, universities, streets and highway-roads and so on. If national and international procedures can be brought under computer network, then Digital Bangladesh must be ensured. Computer based network is called Internet. Internet can play vital role to conduct education, medical science, agriculture, office, security, buying and selling, communication, publication, newspaper, entertainment, online banking system, online information centre and so forth.
In education a student or learner can easily find the lectures of teachers through internet connection without attending the classes. In medical science a patient being at home can easily get prescription of a specialist doctor either of home or abroad. Digital network system may help a farmer to be introduced with the new methods of cultivation and new invented production and he can apply them to increase his products. CC cameras can be set at offices so that corruption can be avoided and progress can be motivated. CC camera system may be used to trace out the criminals, arrest them and punish them. Thus terrorism can be eradicated and well security must be ensured. In field of buying and selling we can choose our necessary things, bargain the prices and buy the things through internet.
Nowadays many things in communication are being conducted. The flight of a rocket plane for the moon is being controlled by computer network, communication with one country to another has been possible by internet. We can enjoy a cricket match held in a farthest country with the help of digital computer network system. We can send a manuscript of a book to abroad and similarly we can bring it from abroad within a few minutes through internet.
At present newspapers are not transported from Dhaka to Khulna, Chittagong or Rajshahi, rather the contents are sent through internet to be published. Online Banking system has already been started in some banks. People need not carry a huge bundle of money from one city to another. They can easily draw money using credit card system. Different kinds of data may be provided to the people through online information centres. If it is possible, people will be able to be voters, to correct any mistake, to change and update their data. Any way, if in all the sectors-small or big, computer based network is introduced by the government, digital Bangladesh must be established.

ডিজিটাল অর্থ কম্পিউটারভিত্তিক। ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ বলতে বুঝায় আধুনিক কম্পিউটার নেটওয়ার্ক অথবা ইন্টারনেট পদ্ধতির সাহায্যে সমস্ত দেশের সকল কর্মকাণ্ডকে গতিশীল করা। আধুনিক প্রযুক্তি এক্ষেত্রে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে। আমরা বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থানে সিসিটিভি ক্যামেরা স্থাপন করতে পারি এবং একস্থানে বসে সকল সরকারি ও বেসরকারি অফিস ও প্রতিষ্ঠান, স্কুল, কলেজ, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, রাজপথ, মহাসড়ক ইত্যাদি নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে পারি। জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক কর্মকাণ্ডকে কম্পিউটার নেটওয়ার্কের আওতায় আনতে পারলে ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ নিশ্চিত হবে। কম্পিউটারভিত্তিক নেটওয়ার্ককে ইন্টারনেট বলা হয়। ইন্টারনেট শিক্ষা, চিকিৎসা, বিজ্ঞান, কৃষি, অফিস-আদালত, নিরাপত্তাবিধান, কেনাবেচা, যোগাযোগ মাধ্যম, প্রকাশনা, সংবাদপত্র, বিনোদন, অন লাইন ব্যাংকিং প্রক্রিয়া, অন লাইন তথ্য কেন্দ্র প্রভৃতি নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে পারে। শিক্ষার ক্ষেত্রে একজন ছাত্র বা শিক্ষার্থী ক্লাসে উপস্থিত না হয়েই ইন্টারনেট সংযোগের মাধ্যমে সহজেই শিক্ষকদের লেকচার খুঁজে পেতে পারে। চিকিৎসাবিজ্ঞানের ক্ষেত্রে একজন রোগী বাড়িতে বসেই দেশ-বিদেশের বিশেষজ্ঞ ডাক্তারের পরামর্শ সহজেই পেতে পারে। ডিজিটাল নেটওয়ার্ক পদ্ধতি একজন কৃষককে নতুন নতুন চাষ পদ্ধতি ও নব্য আবিষ্কৃত উৎপাদন পদ্ধতির সাথে পরিচিত হতে সাহায্য করে এবং সে তার দ্রব্য উৎপাদন বাড়াতে সেগুলো প্রয়োগ করতে পারে। অফিস-আদালতে সিসি ক্যামেরা স্থাপন করা যেতে পারে যাতে দুর্নীতি এড়ানো যায় এবং অগ্রগতি গতিশীল হয়। অপরাধীকে চিহ্নিত করতে, তাদেরকে গ্রেফতার করতে ও শাস্তি দিতে সিসি ক্যামেরা পদ্ধতি ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে। এইভাবে সন্ত্রাসবাদ দূর করা যেতে পারে এবং কড়া নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত হবে। কেনাবেচার ক্ষেত্রে আমরা ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসপত্র নির্বাচন, দরদস্তুরি ও ক্রয় করতে পারি।
আজকাল যোগাযোগের ক্ষেত্রে অনেক কিছুই ব্যবহৃত হচ্ছে। চাঁদে যাওয়ার রকেট প্লেনের উড্ডয়ন কম্পিউটার নেটওয়ার্ক দ্বারা নিয়ন্ত্রিত হচ্ছে, একদেশের সাথে আরেক দেশের যোগাযোগ রক্ষা করা সম্ভব হচ্ছে ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে। ডিজিটাল কম্পিউটার নেটওয়ার্ক পদ্ধতির সাহায্যে দূরবর্তী কোনো দেশে অনুষ্ঠিত ক্রিকেট খেলা আমরা উপভোগ করতে পারছি। ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে আমরা কোনো বইয়ের পাণ্ডুলিপি কয়েক মিনিটের মধ্যে বিদেশে পাঠাতে পারি আবার একইভাবে তা বিদেশ থেকে আনতেও পারি।
বর্তমানে পরিবহনযোগে খবরের কাগজ ঢাকা থেকে খুলনা, চট্টগ্রাম কিংবা রাজশাহীতে পাঠাতে হয় না, বরং প্রকাশিত হওয়ার জন্য ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে বিষয়বস্তু পাঠিয়ে দেওয়া হয়। অনলাইন ব্যাংকিং পদ্ধতি ইতোমধ্যেই কয়েকটি ব্যাংকে চালু হয়েছে। লোকজনকে এখন আর বিশাল আকৃতির টাকার বোঝা বহন করার প্রয়োজন হয় না। ক্রেডিট কার্ড পদ্ধতি ব্যবহার করে তারা সহজেই টাকা উঠাতে পারেন। অনলাইন তথ্যকেন্দ্রের মাধ্যমে বিভিন্ন প্রকার ভোটার হতে, ভুল সংশোধন করতে, তাদের তথ্যাদি পরিবর্তন ও আপডেট করতে সক্ষম হবে। যাহোক, সরকার যদি ছোট-বড় সকল বিভাগে কম্পিউটার ভিত্তিক নেটওয়ার্ক চালু করতে পারে তাহলে ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ প্রতিষ্ঠিত হবে।
